Marine Structures
"The wave attenuators [at right] were a creative solution
to a complex and much-debated issue.
We’re very happy with their performance; they definitely reduce the
effect that storms have on our boats.”
- Joseph LaChance, Manager, Great Harbor Marina"
Maine’s economy depends heavily on marine and inland water-related
industries, such as research, fishing, and recreation. These uses
require docks, piers, breakwaters, boat ramps, floats, dock-side
utilities, mooring plans, marinas, public boat landings, shore
protection systems, dams, etc. The wave attenuator system at Great
Harbor Marina in Southwest Harbor is one of our more innovative
designs. The three wave attenuators shelter the marina from rough
waters caused by high winds and storm conditions, without adversely
affecting the remainder of the Harbor.
Our
staff, which includes boat owners, fishermen, lobstermen, and a
former schooner captain, understand the unique requirements of
marine projects. We can help you with the planning, design, and
construction of your marine project. For more information
