Senior Project Geologist
Full-time position. The function of the Senior Project Geologist is to plan, organize, and execute the technical and administrative aspects of projects within established schedule, budget, and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) policy constraints; assist in the professional development of junior staff; and actively participate in Business Development activities. Typical projects will include, but are not limited to work associated with: Brownfields projects; Solid Waste landfills; industrial sites; commercial and residential development; public water supplies; and Maine Department of Environmental Protection (MDEP) redevelopment projects.
Work is performed in both field and office settings. Outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions. Work hours are flexible and are subject to change based on project schedules. The position requires sufficient physical abilities and mobility to work in an office setting and field environment.
BS in Geology (preference in Hydrogeology) or equivalent work experience and Certification as a Maine Certified Geologist. An advanced degree in the area of work specialization is desirable. Minimum of ten years of technical experience, with strong expertise in the areas of Geology, Hydrogeology, groundwater Chemistry, statistical analysis and fate transport modeling is required. OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER) 40 hour (current) preferred. Knowledge of RCRA, CERCLA and other State and Federal programs (Clean Water Act – stormwater, NRPA, etc.) is preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and other support software including the use of analytical models. Experienced with field investigation methods including soil boring logging, rock core logging, direct-push sampling, groundwater/surface water/sediment/soil vapor sampling. Experienced in monitoring well installation oversight, as well as monitoring well development, rehabilitation, and abandonment.
