Road Reconstruction Design
Routes 1&3 Reconstruction, Ellsworth, Maine
This project involved the construction and reconstruction of approximately 2.1 miles of Route 1 and Route 3 in the City of Ellsworth. These roads act as a major transportation gateway to Downeast Maine and to Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park. Heavy use of these roads and development pressures along the road corridor have resulted in traffic delays and poor road conditions overtime. CES, Inc. worked closely with MDOT and the City to design a completely new traffic pattern which helped address growth and development and alleviate traffic pressures. CES, Inc. engineers provided detailed design plans for new traffic and turn lanes, a new traffic signal system, new drainage structures, and striping. CES, surveyors provided base data and legal descriptions of property to be acquired as part of the project. Construction management services are ongoing.
