Feasibility Studies

Milford, Maine

CES, Inc. was retained by the Town of Milford in 2002 to conduct a feasibility study for an alternate pipe line route for the Town’s main sanitary sewer line which discharges to the City of Old Town. The study was commissioned due in part to a pending Maine Department of Transportation (MDOT) bridge reconstruction project for the existing bridge which crosses the Penobscot River and links the Town of Milford with French Island and the City of Old Town.  Of the ten options presented by CES engineers, the committee selected an option where the new line would be installed across the proposed MDOT bridge.  Over the next few years, CES developed construction plans for the project.  Working closely with the Town and the MDOT, the final plans were incorporated into the project.  In the Spring of 2006, MDOT and the Town moved forward with construction.  Approximately 1,260 lineal feet of pipe was installed , including the bridge work, plus 7 new manholes.  Total cost of the sewer project was approximately $483,000.00.
