Maine Woods Pellet Company, located in Athens, Maine, is a highly-efficient wood pellet fuel production facility capable of producing up to100,000 tons of wood pellets a year. The site, previously owned by Boralex, was recently purchased by Linkletter & Sons.

CES, Inc. has provided numerous services to Linkletter & Sons in relation to the Maine Woods Pellet facility, including assistance with the facility’s Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan, the termination of the Solid Waste License, the associated Closure Report, and the transfer of the SLODA license.

As part of the termination of the Solid Waste License, CES, Inc. provided field personnel to oversee the physical removal of the existing biomass fuel storage system (e.g., piping, liner, and contaminated material). Upon completion of the Solid Waste License termination, CES, Inc. performed the following services for the Maine Woods Pellet Company:

•  Modification of the SLODA permit
•  Compliance assistance under the Multi-Sector General Permit for Stormwater Discharges Associated with Industrial Activity and a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP)
•  SPCC Plan for oil storage
•  Minor Source Air Emissions License
•  Piping Engineering associated with the Facility’s Wet Scrubber

CES continues to provide environmental and engineering services on an as-needed basis for Maine Woods Pellet Company.
